Microsoft Word 2000 is driving me crazy. Every time I type an Internet URL (e.g., http://www.mydomain.com) or Uniform Naming Convention (UNC) network path (e.g., \\myserver\files), Word converts the text to a hyperlink. I can backspace once to remove the hyperlink and leave the text, but I'm tired of doing that constantly. I've looked around in the Options command on the Tools menu but can't seem to find a way to change this behavior. How can I make the madness stop?

The behavior you mention is part of Word's AutoFormat feature. To stop Word from automatically converting URLs and UNC pathnames to hyperlinks, select AutoCorrect from the Tools menu. Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab. Clear the Internet and network paths with hyperlinks check box under the Replace as you type section, as Figure 1 shows, and click OK. Word will cease its habit of converting these types of entries to hyperlinks.

Slight change of subject, but still a Hyperlink issue: I put a hyperlink in a Word 2000 document, linking to a .jpeg file elsewhere on my c: drive. Wen I clicked on it I get, “Cannot find JVIEW.EXE.” I never heard of this program before. All my picture files are registered to ACDsee, a viewer I have used for several years without problems. I expected that clicking on the link would open the picture with ACDsee, but get the error above. I used Find to find the .exe, and it was in the \windows directory; but it is for something called JScript apparently. BTW neither the .doc nor the .jpg are webbed--this is for my own use, offline. How do I get the hyperlink to behave properly?

Word 2000 won't let me set up a hyperlink to send to an email, I know i am doing it right cause i have about 5 other hyperlinks to other docs and web pages - which work fine
