In Reader to Reader: "DHCP Conflict," February 2001, Melissa Wise offers a solution to an IP address conflict. I have an easier solution that resolves a situation in which two clients are trying to grab the same IP address. First, release the addresses on both clients, then delete the clients' leases on the DHCP server. Create a reservation for one of the clients with a different IP address than the address that both clients are requesting. Next, renew the addresses on both clients. Confirm the assigned IP addresses on both clients to make sure that the DHCP server gave one of the clients a new IP address. Finally, delete the reservation for the client.

The other solution for this which I find works is depending on how long your office is open, set the leases in your DHCP to be just as long as the average hour of your staff works in a day. I encounter this problem a lot before but since I've reduced the lease down to just 8 hours. I never saw this happen again.
