Microsoft's release of Microsoft Reader 2.0, the new version of its eBook reader, sent shivers of joy through the seven people who actually use the technology. The free product is available for Windows-based PCs and laptops and Pocket PC 2002 devices. However, Reader 2.0 doesn't support previous Pocket PC devices—bringing down the total number of possible users to two. But those two people will enjoy a bevy of new features, including multiple activations, a better UI, and a new Web interface.

"New Microsoft Reader Available" would be a useful story if it contained a link to the actual file! If you're not using the hyperlink features of the web, maybe you should write for print media... The whole usefulness of the www is any word can be linked to any site, but you have to use the feature when you create a web page for us to use the feature on the web. If you don't include a link, why bother writing it on the web? Its just about as useful as a newspaper or magazine. Please, if you're going to review a web resource, try to include a link to that resource. Otherwise, don't waste my time advertising a dead-end story. Thanks...

Nothing like objective journalism on e-Books (insert sarcastic sounds and rolling of eyes). e-Books are thriving on the Internet. Just ask Corey Rudl, Marlon Sanders, Yanik Silver, etc. These Internet marketing gurus sell millions of dollars worth of these products every year or use e-Books to sell their physical products and services. I think the author of this article needs to get out on the Internet a little more.

Hi,

I am facing a problem with MS Reader 2.

I installed MS Reader 2 on my computer @ work and activated the same before purchasing the "Shrek" eBook from Amazon.com.

Since the eBook was mainly for the kids, I installed MS Reader 2 again on the home PC, activated the same (using the same e-mail ID), and downloaded "Shrek" again from Amazon.com. However, the downloaded eBook refuses to load with the MS Reader @ home.

Is there any way out or should I kiss the USD 6.29 goodbye?

Perhaps the efforts to turn MS Reader into a big money maker failed, but that doesn't mean the technology isn't useful. It really does make it possible to optimize the fonts and colors for comfortable reading on a laptop. It is easy to download the free dictionary, so that you can look up the meaning of a word while reading with a mouse click.
