Bad poll. It doesn't include Bank Street Writer.

I used a tie in application on a Tandy Computer - I think it was called "OfficeMate" of something like that - circa 1990.

It was WordStar, back in 1988! I remember having to use all of the 'Alt' key combinations to get it to do the various formatting commands. It was my first lesson in learning to make a back up of my work, since I lost a term paper by trying to format it!

The very first would probably be Apple Writer II on the Apple II, but following up shortly after that would be the proprietary DisplayWriter from IBM. In that period, I also handled WordStar (on the Apple II with a Z80 card), Bank Street Writer and AppleWorks.

In the early '80's my oldest son and I worked on a Vic 20 and later a other hardware. The earliest software I can remember are the Apple programs he used in early grade school and WordStar I used at home. We never had anything for the Vic.

He's now a Enterprise Architect for a multi-national and I own my own technology company. We both still use and my oldest grandson is learning the tricks from WordStar.
