Efficiently Protect Against Malware
Sunbelt Software's CounterSpy Enterprise 2.0
With my company's Web traffic growing, we began to experience a number of problems.
Computers were slowing down and freezing up, and our current antivirus solution
wasn't catching the common adware, spyware, and malware that was impacting the
performance of those systems. We didn't want to place the responsibility for
virus definition updates and virus scans on our users, so an enterprise antispyware
solution became our highest priority.
We purchased Sunbelt Software's CounterSpy Enterprise. Installing CounterSpy
was ridiculously quick and simple, and there were no major configuration hassles.
Originally we ran it on a high-end workstation rather than a server and it worked
just fine. Most of the installation time was consumed by the deployment of CounterSpy
agents to individual workstations. We had some trouble with an earlier version
of CounterSpy that seemed to lock up some services, but version 2.0 seems to
have fixed those problems.
CounterSpy has saved us quite a bit of time. Before we implemented it, if a
machine at a remote site was running slowly or having problems, we'd have to
dispatch a technician and that wasn't always a viable option. With CounterSpy
I can run a scan remotely and get the results to the proper support staff within
a matter of minutes. One thing that would make CounterSpy better is if there
were a way to get information on a system during a scan while in the policy
view mode.
Although CounterSpy isn't perfect, I wouldn't hesitate to suggest it to anyone
in an organization that has a moderate number of workstations or workstations
spread out over a fairly large geographical area.
