What do the lock icons next to some articles mean?
The locks indicate what level of access is required in order to view the entire article. Here is a key to each symbol:

Subscriber Only = Access is only available to print subscribers. Subscribe now.

VIP Exclusive = Access is only available to VIP members. Become a VIP member now.

How can I get access to locked down articles?
You can get access by subscribing to one or more of our publications. Visit the "Learn More" page to see your options.

What is a Customer Number?
A Customer Number is a unique number we use to identify subscribers. The number is printed on the find customer number of your print magazine or newsletter. You can use this option to merge your accounts.

Where can I find my Customer Number?
Refer to your magazine's mailing label. See example.

My Account / Log On FAQs

How do I update my online account?
Sign in and then click the "Manage Your Account" link in the header. This will take you to a screen that allows you to make changes to your account, including adding a screen name.

I'm a new user. How do I get a username and password?
Register here.

I'm a forum user, but I want to access registered user articles. Do I need to create a new username and password?
No. Simply sign in using your forum nickname and password. The first time you log on you will be prompted to answer a few questions in order to update your account and link any other print subscriptions you might have.

I have multiple accounts, how can I merge them?
Simply sign in with one of your accounts. Click the "Manage Your Account" link in the header. On the account management page click the "Associate Subscription Customer Number" and this will become your main account.

How do I find my password?
Simply click on the "Password Reminder" link on the Sign In page. You'll be forwarded to a page requesting your email address. Enter the email address you used to register for the site. You will receive an email with your username and password.

How do I change my password?
You must sign in to the site. Once you are logged in, click on "Manage Password" on the Sign In page.

How do I change my email address?
You must sign in to the site. Once you are logged in, click on "Change Email" on the My Account page.

What is the "Remember Me" checkbox I see in the log on box?
If you check this box, we'll set a cookie on the computer you are currently using. In the future when you access the site, we'll look for the cookie and you'll be automatically logged on.

Registration FAQs
Why do I have to register?
The information you provide during registration is used for the SQL Server Magazine web site functionality. Registering allows you to set up your own account and preferences and gives you access to certain locked down articles. Registering also lets you subscribe to and post forum threads. If you are interested in a discussion thread, you can subscribe to that thread and we'll send you an email notification every time a reply is posted to the thread.
