In his keynote address at Comdex earlier this week, Bill Gates announced that a Unisys 32-way ES7000 server running Windows Datacenter Server Limited Edition and SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition set a new record for Windows performance on the Transaction Processing Performance Council's (TPC's) TPC-C Non-Clustered Benchmark test. The configuration processed 165,219 transactions per minute (tpm), a new world record for Windows-based systems. The cost per transaction was $21.33, the best price/performance of any system in the top 10 performance list. With this result, Windows and SQL Server now hold two of the top 10 performance results on the TPC-C Non-Clustered list. For more information, see the TCP Web site
