The community has also contributed to the
DTS migration process. One particularly valuable published tool is called DtsToSsisPrepare
(http://www.sqlbi.eu/). This DTS-focused
upgrade tool prepares DTS packages before
the DTS Migration Wizard runs. By converting
universal data link (UDL)-based connections
to hard-coded standard connections, consolidating connections created for parallelism,
and resetting other DTS properties that the
migration doesn’t support, packages run
through the DTS Migration Wizard are much
cleaner in SSIS after the initial preparation
through DtsToSsisPrepare.
