Q. Is it true that Microsoft products are only supported for five years?

Windows IT Pro
InstantDoc ID #104628

A. Yes and no. For Microsoft business and developer solutions, mainstream support is five years, which includes support for change requests, security updates, non-security hotfixes, and complementary and paid support. After five years, an additional five years of extended support is offered, which includes only paid support and security updates (although non-security hotfixes can be available through an extended hotfix support agreement). For consumer, hardware, and multimedia products, there' just the five years of support, with no options for extended support.
