Tip: Copying Objects from Enterprise Manager to Query Analyzer

SQL Server Pro
InstantDoc ID #21360

Did you know that you can copy many T-SQL object definitions from Enterprise Manager onto the Windows Clipboard, then paste them into a text-aware utility such as Query Analyzer or Notepad? This copy-and-paste method is a convenient way to script multiple objects from Enterprise Manager, using as few keystrokes as possible. Try this experiment: Expand the Pubs database hierarchy in Enterprise Manager until you see the list of table objects in the right pane. Right-click one of the tables, such as discounts, and select the Copy menu option. Then, open Query Analyzer (or any text program such as Notepad) and paste the table object.
