An alliance between Data General and Proxim will allow Data General to enhance its healthcare point-of-care solutions by adding Proxim wireless LAN technology. Data General currently uses Proxim radio technology in its WiiN-PAD hand-held product.
Data General will expand its current OEM agreement with Proxim to resell, integrate, and support Proxim's wireless LAN products, including RangeLAN2, RangeLAN802, and Symphony products.
"Point of care is a critical requirement in healthcare and many of our established markets, such as retail and distribution," says Rick Cumberland, Data General clinical computing vice president. "With the current market explosion of hand-held and mobile computing devices, the demand for wireless networks is growing rapidly."
Data General is offering all of Proxim's wireless products, which currently are installed in more than 700 healthcare facilities worldwide.
