It was early 1999, and several SQL Server authors and a group of people from a small publishing company sat around a conference table discussing the possibility of a magazine entirely devoted to SQL Server. I had just finished writing my first SQL Server book, Inside SQL Server 7.0, which was set to appear that spring. I loved the idea of being able to continue writing about my favorite topic, month after month, and I loved the fact that the debut issue of SQL Server Magazine
