Shutting Down SQL Server

Please can you give more details about stopping named instance of a clustered server from command prompt or any batch file.

I have found that the SC utility does not stop SQL Server Remotely. Running SC from a windows NT4 Server attempting to stop MS SQL Server 2000 on another NT4 Server does not work when issuing this command...

SC \\\\Servername "mssqlserver"

There's yet another way - use the SC command from a command prompt - for example SC stop mssqlserver. You can even do this remotely by including the server name - for example - SC \\\\myserver stop mssqlserver
