The described example is very basic and lacks to describe any grouping options which are more likely to occur for many reports. When working with Hierarchical data from an ADO recordset grouping does not work with the Data Report Designer. The Report Designer seems to be made exclusively for the Data Environment which in itself is cluncky and lacks the flexibility of dynamically generating recordsets.]]>

Your approach has many merits but ignores simpler solutions. Outputting the data to an xml document would allow it to be viewed in xml supporting browsers with the header on a per page basis as required or in newer versions of office (2002, XP etc.) provided an xsl was provided. The main problem I find with using browsers to generate and print reports is the layout. To make it visible to the viewer on the screen means making fonts of types and sizes that make it illegible on the printed report. An alternative to this is to use the newer versions of CSS (CSS-2) which allow for one style for screen representation and another for printed representation.]]>

Activating server- and client-side debugging creates overhead on the IIS server because these options apply to all pages associated with the application you want to debug. This overhead can slow a busy Web site’s response time. For this reason, I recommend that you completely debug your application on a test or development server]]>
