Then remember to install the Azure SDK from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=dba6a576-468d-4ef6-877e-b14e3c865d3a&displaylang=en

Marco, thanks for your comment. Here’s Dino Esposito’s reply: "The reader is right when he says that most of the time T-SQL statements written by programmers are the main cause of troubles. However, the challenge (and complexity) of modern software require that developers work with object models thus raising the abstraction level from physical to a more conceptual view. O/RM tools (LINQ to SQL is just one of the simplest) serve this purpose and may generate T-SQL code. Or they can be programmed to invoke stored procedures written by DBAs. I also suggest that DBAs learn more about modeling techniques and O/RM tools. O/RM tools (including LINQ to SQL) offer a mapping layer where bindings between object properties and tables/columns are made. This mapping must be the realm of DBAs; the model must be the realm of developers/architects."]]>

It could be a stupid thought, but isn’t it easier let a DBA write the T-SQL statements? Just keep the presentation’s programmers doing what they do best (Good and useful interfaces). During my DBA carrer I noticed that 99% of the problems are caused by the poor design, most of it done by programmers.]]>

While I can understand the need to restrict postings to registered users, you really need to drop the requirement to subscribe in order to reference information found via Google, or you risk losing traffic to P2P sites where no such unnecessary restrictions to information exist (such as WROX - my choice for help). Quite frankly, the last thing I need is yet another user name and password to remember just so I can determine whether your articles answer my questions. I suggest you talk to the folks at VBCity if you don’t believe this - they were forced to drop the very same requirement for the lack of traffic and negative comments such a policy generated. Additionally, I have to concur with bmnbmn who thought it less than earnest that you force users to click through an ad page just to find out the entire article isn’t available without a subscription. This is a SPAMMER tactic, exhibits poor netiquette, and will garner bad publicity for your site. I certainly won’t be back until you stop trying to claim common knowledge as proprietary just so you can SPAM me with useless newsletters and make your sponsors feel like they’re getting their advertising money’s worth (VBCity’s reasoning for requiring registration). Additionally, your stupid registration form, aside from wanting to know a lot of unnecessary information about me, tells me that "Question 5 must be answered", yet the questions aren’t even numbered! If your website is so poorly constructed it can’t even tell me which question is in error, how much faith am I expected to place in its suggested solutions to my problems. Finally, your comment post logic produces graphics that are practically illegible and sometimes cannot even be entered (just where is the "cents" key, anyway???). How am I supposed to post a comment when I can’t figure out what the characters are? it took 4 tries just to post this comment! Get a clue if you want to stay in business! This is no way to run a web sit]]>

In a DOS prompt, I need to locate the name of the folder from which my script is being run. Up to this point, I’ve simply copied a dummy text file from C:\ via the script, then obtained a handle on the copied file to get the absolutepathname of said file, after which I’ll delete the dummy file. Is there any easier, cleaner way of obtaining the path from which my script is being run in a DOS prompt?? Thanks]]>

In layman’s terms for those of us that don’t understand the jargon above, use the following code just pasted to the sub command you’re trying to make work. Set fso = CreateObject _ ("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set MyFile = fso.GetFile("T:\rk_inugo.csv") MyFile.Copy "C:\rk_inugoxx.csv", 0 NOTE: T:\rk_inugo.csv is the file I’m copying. C:\rk_inugoxx.csv is the file I’m copying to. The zero (0) at the end of the file keeps you from overwriting the file if it exists. Change to a "1" if you want it to overwrite the file.]]>
