Please note that NoSPAMProxy is not freeware anymore and was the anchestor of ALoaha (www.aloaha.com). Aloaha still contains some freeware modules such as IP Blacklists, RBL checks and SPF (Sender Policy Framework). Plese note that Aloaha now contains some additional modules such as a SINK Plugin, a POP3 Connector and support for URI Lists.]]>

New Products, March 2003http://www.sqlmag.com/article/monitoring-and-analysis/new-products-march-2003#commentsAnchorMon, 17 Mar 2003 13:31:53 GMT
SQL Server Magazine, My apologies as this is more of a technical question than a comment on an article (but I was not sure exactly where to go). I have been reviewing the "New Products" articles posted for the last few months in an attempt to locate a company and software that has a specific functionality. I look after DBAs and PAs that have to deal with a variety of complex data warehousing environments. Per server, we have a large amount of DTS packages and scheduled tasks that manage all kinds of data and business processes that support our business intelligence infrastructure. One of our biggest problems is that each environment is not understood by the masses and not well documented. What I am searching for is a tool (or set of tools) that has the ability to document/analyze/audit everything about a database on an SQL Server. The software must read and interpret all table schema (keys/indexes), triggers, views, stored procedures, db diagrams, DTS packages (source/destination and pump details), and scheduled tasks (DTS and details of scheduled tasks are critical). And, the software must be able to take this "meta data" and report/display in a friendly manner (likely web) so that a variety of consumers can view the information. All of this information is readily available via Enterprise Manager, but I am looking for something that can report on and consolidate the data in a nice little package (and prevent people from using EM when they should not). Does anything like this exist? Thank you in advance for any advice. Christopher A.
