Resources Highlight SQL Server Denali’s New and Improved SSIS Features
Posted @ 12/29/2010 2:59 PM By Megan Keller
The latest version of SQL Server, code-named Denali, includes many new and improved features and tools, but I’ve been most interested in the changes made to SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). These changes were a long time coming: Despite Microsoft’s overhaul of SQL Server’s business intelligence applications in SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server Integration Services hasn’t had a major upgrade since SQL Server 2005.
In my quest to find out more about Denali’s SSIS improvements, I came across an excellent presentation by Steve Swartz, the SSIS Group Program Manager at Microsoft, that takes an in-depth look at all of the new and improved SSIS features in Denali. You can check out Steve’s presentation in the video below. Although his presentation is almost an hour long, it’s definitely worth the time because he walks you through each feature, including the redesigned UI, the upgraded SSIS server, and the new features that let you track impact and lineage within your SQL Server database.
SQL Server Denali – What’s Coming Next in SSIS
Below is a great video by SQL Server Training that I found while poking around that shows you how to manage SSIS projects in Denali’s Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS).

Enjoy!
