Q. I downloaded Windows Storage Server 2008 from Microsoft, but I wasn't prompted for an Administrator password when I installed it. What's the password for Administrator?

Windows IT Pro
InstantDoc ID #102972

A. This is one of those annoying times you need to read the documentation. The Release Notes (WSS2008_RELNOTES.DOC) of the Windows Storage Server 2008 embedded tools CD (the tools CD, not the installation media) tell you the password is wSS2008!.

"By default, if you install Windows Storage Server 2008 without specifying a password in an Unattend.xml file, the password for Windows Storage Server 2008 is wSS2008!."

As it explains, you can change the default password by creating an Unattend.xml file.
