In the sql logs i keep seeing this
DBCC TRACEON 2861 spid
I keep turning this off but i see see it in the logs like 100 off lines.
How is this being set ..i do not have it in the start up parameters
I tried to do a trace in profiler i put in text
= DBCC TRACEON (2861) but it did not work gave loads of processes

When using that fuction

Ok...i managed to trap the condition.
It says the hostname is our SERVER that we have QUEST Software....
...I go to this server and nothing is connected to the server...
Application name SC_MSSQL
Database id = 1 (this is master)
SPID 237
So i go back to SQL Manager and look at spid 237 this is is just a normal user logging to our erp system.
Perhaps at the time in profiler.......some other process took 237.
Today i turn off the Server that has quest on.
Where does the Application name come from..................
Host name can be changed on anyones machine ....so if another user is connecting they could trick me
by changing the host file....

I found it....i got hold of quest...people and said nothing is connected to the database ...the server is just running....they told me they have this check on every hour so it records the status of the server on the hour.....wow...interesting.
